Lloyd's of London
Nelson Collection Exhibition

The Brief: To commemorate the bicentenary of Admiral Lord Nelson's death at the Battle of Trafalgar and celebrate Lloyd's maritime leadership and heritage, Lloyd's invited Artwise to create a new exhibition of their Lloyd's Nelson Collection.

The Artwise Solution: Artwise brought together a team of experts including award-winning exhibition designers Casson Mann, to update and enliven the display of the existing Nelson Collection. Artwise envisaged the bicentenary exhibition as a means of telling the story of Nelson's life through the Lloyd's Collection, from his birth, to the Battle of Trafalgar and the massive impression his death made upon Britain. Prints from the Collection were used to illustrate the drama of sea warfare, while letters and personal objects give an insight into the private man. After a short spell at Lloyd's, the exhibition was shown at the Guildhall Art Gallery in the City of London, its first ever public display. On its return, Lloyd's decided to make the Collection Exhibition a permanent feature on the Trading Floor.
