Troika All the time in the world, 2008
Electroluminescent Art Wall
3.6 x 22 x 0.001 m

Troika, a multidisciplinary art and design studio, has created a 22m long art wall that marks a dramatic entrance to the First and Concorde Galleries Lounges in Terminal 5. All the time in the world is a digital art world clock that fuses art, engineering, graphic design and technology to create a visually stunning modular text display system with its own uniquely designed font. Moreover, Troika has constructed the work to be energy efficient by using and adapting electroluminescent lighting technology. Troika has cleverly extended the conventional notion of a world clock, which commonly concentrates on capital cities in different time zones, by linking real time to places with exciting and romantic associations. All the time in the world allows passengers to extend their imaginations to far distant locations: great natural wonders of the world, the highest mountain, the most beautiful lakes, the tallest buildings, the longest rivers, ancient cities, museums with untold treasures, dream islands and exotic deserts. Adding to the remarkable design is the visual layout of the clock which reflects the geographic position of the places displayed. GMT, London's local time, forms the heart of the clock display, and any places west of London are situated to the left of the large clock, and equally, any places east of it are to its right. This is the first time that a display system of this kind has been implemented worldwide.
